New toolbox for knowledge and technology transfer
Scientific findings and products are fuel for progress and change. Research-based knowledge is also crucial for the implementation of the Energy Strategy 2050, provided that this knowledge can be communicated! Despite numerous funding measures, the opportunities for knowledge and technology transfer (KTT) - also in Swiss energy research - are far from being exhausted. Especially for the SFOE's SWEET funding program, which focuses on inter- and transdisciplinarity, the KTT toolbox can be a practical help.
Unfold, apply
The WTT Toolbox is a handy card box for researchers and other restless people in knowledge transfer. The box contains 30 cards with methods for interacting with actors. Based on six criteria, a sorting function supports the search for suitable tools: 1. direction of information flow, 2. group size, 3. attention span, 4. budget, 5. previous knowledge and 6. project phase. All tools are straightforward and immediately applicable. Additional tools can be added on colored blank cards.
WTT at SWEET
In order to anchor the topic of KTT as a central pillar in the new funding program SWEET (SWiss Energy research for the Energy Transition), the SFOE commissioned Dr. Astrid Björnsen(WSL) and Dr. Anna Roschewitz(novatlantis) to develop a KTT toolbox. This is intended to provide researchers with a low-threshold approach to the topic. It also incorporates valuable findings from the working group "Knowledge & Technology Transfer in large Energy Research Programs" (2015-2020).
The toolbox is made available to SWEET consortia by the SWEET office. However, the toolbox is also suitable for use in other thematic areas as well as for authorities and practitioners.
Who is the KTT Toolbox aimed at and how is it used?
The KTT Toolbox ..
- is primarily aimed at SWEET consortia, but also at interested parties in research & practice, the private sector & public authorities
- gives inter- and transdisciplinary teams new impulses for their KTT activities and promotes the dialogue within project teams (e.g. in workshops)
- provides practical assistance in the selection, application and implementation of KTT activities
- introduces KTT newcomers to the topic and also enriches the work of KTT professionals
SWEET - "SWiss Energy research for the Energy Transition" - is a research funding program of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE). The goal of SWEET is to promote innovations that contribute significantly to the successful implementation of the Energy Strategy 2050 and the achievement of Switzerland's climate goals.
