New Call for Research Proposals in the area of “Energy Efficiency in Industry”
Energy efficiency is at the core of the transition towards a more resilient and sustainable energy system. It takes innovative solutions to reduce industrial energy consumption to a level where the remaining demand can be supplied from renewable sources.
In response to this challenge, the SFOE research programme on Industrial Processes dedicates one million Swiss Francs to a competitive call for application-oriented research proposals in the area of industrial energy efficiency. Worldwide Living Labs are increasingly adopted to address urban challenges. They are projects or experiments devised to design, test and learn from innovative socio-technical practices (i.e. “new ways of doing something”), with a diversity of stakeholders and in real-life conditions. Blockchain for a «BETHer» world: Eine Blockchain School for Sustainability an der ETH Zürich.
Vom 11.-15. Februar 2019 fand an der ETH Zürich die Blockchain School for Sustainability statt. Im Zentrum der Veranstaltung stand die Frage, was die Blockchain Technologie zur Zukunft und zur Nachhaltigkeit beitragen kann. Fünf Tage durften sich Studierende der ETHZ und aus dem Ausland im Rahmen verschiedener Vorlesungen, Kurse und einem Hackathon mit dem Thema auseinandersetzen. Betreut wurden sie dabei insbesondere vom Departement der Sozialwissenschaften und von ausgewiesenen Experten der Distributed Ledger Technologien (DLT) und des Internet of Things (IoT).
